About Us

Debonnaire is an artisan yarn company based in South Oxfordshire.  Inspiring you to knit, we provide incredible colour ways, exquisite yarns and unique designs with top grade customer service.

Our Yarns

Erica hand dyes high quality yarns in rich saturated colours.

While our hand dyed yarns are the main focus, we supply a broad range of other yarns and accessories. Our straight and embellished (beaded and sequinned) silk yarns are dyed to our unique colour ways by a small business in India.

We also stock an extensive range of Addi needles and Clover accessories.

Debonnaire original designs are unusually simple, let the yarn do the talking and support the Debonnaire ethos of inspiring you to knit.

The Studio

Here you can find all our products, in one place, at one time.  We have a broad library, needlepoint, accessories. yarn kits and many other items that may not make it to the shows due to space limitations.

Meet Erica

Erica is an American who lived in London for 18 years and is now homed in Dunsden, South Oxfordshire. She loves everything about England except the weather (although its a good excuse to stay in pjs all day).  She really used to love Suffolk, but is now a west England convert and a proper country girl as lives here all the time.

On the back nine now and with an empty nest in view, Erica started  Debonnaire on 2008 - a needlecraft business with a mission to provide the best knitting and needlepoint products along with the highest degree possible of client attention.  Best is defined by Erica as the highest quality artistic materials at a fair price.  She also defines best as stuff she personally wants in case she ends up with it all!

Erica runs this business from home, where she has a large studio space  which has a full kitchen, is huge and she can wear slippers and sweats all day.

When not working on the thousands of ideas she has for Debonnaire, she likes golf, skiing, cooking and the beach. Erica is proficient at knitting and stitching at the beach and while cooking, but not while golfing or skiing…..

Her 3 girls (Alex, Annabel and Savannah) have moved on to jobs and uni but come home all the time to a huge party house and a dog, Theo.  (Theo is really the pull). Erica's husband Scott is rather lovely and supportive and very good at lugging 25 kilo boxes of yarn into the studio.

Erica's Life Motto is "just do it!"  (This appeared on Erica's yearbook page in the 70's, way before Nike claimed it.)
